ZEYNEP KARAHASAN
You Won’t Speak My Language (2025)
Kinetic Sculpture
Metal, Bicycle Chain, Cogwheels, DC Motors, Hooks
Collaboration between Zeynep Karahasan and Alexander Breus as part of the TOSSAROSE Collective’s fourth exhibition: Gudunk!
The invisible curtain alive in front
assembling, disassembling, reassembling
concealing and revealing
Realization of it in the most personal
feelings, interventions
not just an alien audience/observer/listener
the invisible curtain exists within ourselves
at our core
therefore
We speak only one language yet it is not ours
We never AND only speak one language
assembling, disassembling, reassembling
concealing and revealing
Realization of it in the most personal
feelings, interventions
not just an alien audience/observer/listener
the invisible curtain exists within ourselves
at our core
therefore
We speak only one language yet it is not ours
We never AND only speak one language
the other in me
and me in the other
I love it so much so
I don’t want you to ever speak my language
and me in the other
I love it so much so
I don’t want you to ever speak my language
